Long-Term Care
Shaping the Future of Infection Prevention
in Long-Term Care

We are offering Basic Training for Infection Prevention and Control in Long-Term Care and an Advanced Infection Prevention Program!
The basic training is a comprehensive two-day course that is designed to provide Infection Preventionists (IPs) in long-term care facilities with the basic tools required to perform their job.
At the end of the course participants will receive a Certificate of Training in Infection Prevention and Control, along with Nursing continuing education credits.
Completion of this course by a facility's IP will enable facilities to be compliant with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) proposed mandate for training for Infection Prevention and Control Officers.

While the course is directed at IPs, it has also been found helpful for Directors of Nursing, Administrators, Directors of Staff Development, and other leaders in long-term care facilities.

There are two advanced programs.
In one we will do a deeper dive into three of the most current topics relevant to today's Infection Preventionist: performing an infection prevention and control risk assessment, Enhanced Standard Precautions and Antibiotic Stewardship, This one-day course focuses on best practice and will offer interactive practice to help develop expertise in these areas.

The second is called Simplifying the Management of COVID-19 in Skilled Nursing Homes. There is so much confusing information about how to care for our residents to keep both residents and staff safe during the pandemic and this three-hour web program will address such issues as precautions, cohorting, testing residents, and guidelines and regulations. The program will explore some recent headlines regarding COVID-19 and discuss how to analyze and validate news reports.

This course is recommended for Infection Preventionists, as well as all licensed nurses working in long-term care. It is also helpful for Directors of Nursing, Administrators, Pharmacists, and Medical Staff Directors to attend. The program is interactive and designed to help develop teams to work on Antibiotic Stewardship and other important infection prevention areas.

The advanced program is not intended to be considered in lieu of the basic training and will not satisfy the CMS mandate for training in Infection Prevention and Control Officers.
