Course ObjectivesÂ
At the completion of the course, participant will be able to
List three concepts or actions that are important to infection prevention and control in long-term care facilities
Explain the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic
Integrate strategies described for a robust and sustainable infection prevention and control program in a long-term care setting
Discuss symptoms and mode of transmission of respiratory viruses such as human metapneumovirus (HMPV) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
Explain the differences between cleaning and disinfection
Who Should Attend This CourseÂ
This course is for Infection Preventionists (IPs) in Long-Term Care.  It deals with current topics important to today's infection prevention and control program. For those that have attended Boot Camp or other basic Infection Prevention & Control programs, this program will build on that foundation.

Review newer respiratory viruses seen in long-term care facilities
Discuss the importance of vaccination for both residents and employees to minimize the prevalence of vaccine preventable infections
Discuss strategies to keep residents in long-term care facilities safe
Learn the impact of respiratory viruses such as human metapneumovirus and respiratory syncytial virus on long-term care facility residents and staff
The Infection Preventionist's Role Regarding Disinfectants and Cleaning
Review disinfectants used in long-term care facilities and how to participate in evaluating disinfectants for use

In-Person Classroom Learning
Persons selecting this option will attend a live one-day in-person class. Participants must attend the entire conference for full continuing education credits. Attendance at this venue offers the participants an opportunity to interact directly with the course faculty.
