About the Course
Brief Description
Environmental Rounding Intensive is a two-hour web-based program that will take participants on a virtual long-term care facility environmental rounds. Participants will virtually round in many facility departments including dietary, kitchen, and food services; the laundry including soiled linen room and clean linen storage; housekeeping and janitor's closets; and other areas in the facility. Check lists for various departments will be shared.
Course Objectives
At the completion of the course, the participant will be able to
Discuss components of effective environmental rounding in a long-term care facility
Create and analyze reports of environmental rounds findings
Develop plans for improving outcomes
Who Should Attend This Course
This course is an advanced course for Infection Preventionists (IPs) in Long-Term Care. It deals with current topics important to today's infection prevention and control program.

Course Content
Virtual environmental rounds will be conducted throughout the virtual facility with participants engaged in identifying issues and problems. The class will include preparation of reports and a discussion of how to engage staff to address and correct problems identified.
Online Classroom Learning
Persons selecting this option will attend an online class. The full class must be attended for full continuing education credits. Online chats and discussions will offer the participants an opportunity to interact directly with the course faculty.
